Powder room update

The other day I mentioned a powder room on our main living level just off the kitchen.  If you missed it, you can read about it here. It’s looking just a little different these days…

Before. Pale pink paint, brass fixtures, lace window treatments and a fuzzy seat cover (really, a fuzzy seat cover?).

And, after. Okay, so maybe just the first few steps in its transformation to an after, but it's still pretty exciting.

This little powder room got a major overhaul (and we’re not even close to being finished!).  We tore out the dated vinyl tile and replaced it with the same natural stone tile we used in the kitchen. A big thanks to my mom who spent a weekend giving it a fresh coat of paint–the same Behr Wasabi Green paint that we used in the kitchen.  Since this powder room is so close to the kitchen we wanted to use similar colors and textures for consistency.  That’s also why we replaced the beige toilet and sink with a new, bright white Kohler pedestal sink and toilet.  We held on to the old sink and toilet though.  I wasn’t loving their brass fixtures, but they’re easily replaced and since we have another half bath in the lower level of the house that also needs updating, seemed like we might be able to reuse them.  We selected a new Delta faucet in an oil rubbed bronze finish for the sink, though it’s a little hard to see in this photo.  No worries though. We’ll be adding lots of finishing touches to this space in the coming weeks and I’ll be sharing all the details along the way.  In the meantime, it’s nice to be one step closer to making my little house in the country a home.
