Autumn SnowfallPosted: October 31, 2011
The first snowfall of the season…a little early, but it was beautiful. The cold and rain moved into the area late Friday night and by Saturday morning it had changed over to snow. Saturday, hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. After sleeping in, we started the day with a delicious breakfast of homemade waffles, fruit and coffee. We had planned to go to an auction in the morning, but it was postponed because of the snow. We headed back to our house where we spent a mostly relaxing morning until, the power went out. And stayed out! Luckily, one of the first upgrades hubby and I made to our little house in the country was to replace the insulation so the house stayed pretty comfortable most of the day despite not having heat. I spent a wonderful afternoon reading, but hubby started to get restless. He had a day of home improvement planned, but when you’re working with power tools, you know, power helps. We were hoping to go out for a romantic anniversary dinner, but neither of us had showered before we lost power so we weren’t really up for fine dining. We slummed it at a local pub in our snow boots, works jeans and hoodies. The power was still out when we got home and I was ready to pack it up and haul a$$ to a local motel for the night. But, hubby wanted to stick it out. I’m glad he did. Not more than five minutes after deciding to rough it with Tori and the kitties, the power came back on. And stayed on! Was a great weekend filled with lots of relaxing and time with family. Just what I needed to help me face the week ahead.
